French prosecutors have opened an investigation into an alleged rape by Paris Saint German full back Achraf Hakimi, a source close to the case said on Febraury 27.
A nameless 24 years old woman has accused the Moroccan International of raping her at his home in Paris suburb on Saurday February 25.
According to the source, the woman reported the alleged rape incident to the police but did not file charges.
As of now, the public prosecutor’s office handling the case have refused to comment, but complained that the information already made public in the media ‘undermine the necessary investigations to find out the truth’.
Hakimi was part of the Moroccan team that finished fourth in the Fifa World Cup in Qatar.
Born in Madrid, his penalty secured a 3-0 shoot out win over Spain to steer Morocco into uncharted territory, with the North Africa side going on to become the first from the Arab world to reach the last four at a World Cup.
