A former management member and player of Asante Kotoko, Sarfo Gyamfi has opined that some supporters of the club went to Antoa Shrine to protect Asante Kotoko from dubious referees decisions as they club has been cheated recently by officials.

Mr. Sarfo Gyamfi and some leadership of kotoko supporters informed the press that, they have gone to seek for the help of the Antoa shrine to deal against any match official who will come to officiate against Asante Kotoko with malicious intentions.

Asante Kotoko have been the subject of discussion in the press as referees’ decisions have been going against them and even penalties are manufactured against them in 2022/23 Betpawa Premier league.

Recently, penalties were awarded against Asante Kotoko at Bibiana and Anyinase which raised lots of brouhaha in Ghana.

The clubs Chief Executive Officer Nana Yaw Amponsah believes that, the behaviour of referees against the club is a pre meditated efforts by officials of the Ghana Football Association, to prevent Kotoko from defending the league trophy they won in the previous years.

This sentiment is also shared by some sections of the supporters that triggered their move to invoke the Antoa shrine to deal with any referee who will come to officiate Kotoko’s game with negative intentions.

‘We have gone to Antoa not to place a curse, so if you come to officiate a match against Kotoko and you do it cleanly  you don’t have any issues’ Sarfo Gyamfi said.

“Some referees are into betting and they however manipulate the game to their advantage for financial games, we want to prevent that” the Black president further added.

Asante Kotoko lies second on the league log by recording 27 points from 16 matches played so far.
