Richard Attah has apologised to the management of Hearts of Oaks and the phobian fraternity for the comments his wife made regarding the board of Hearts, labelling some as Aki and Pawpaw.
Joyce Attah, stole the headlines in the Ghanaian media space some days ago for alleging that some two directors in the club which she has tagged them as “Aki and Pawpaw” masterminded the sacking of coach Samuel Boadu from the club by interfering in coaching decisions and manipulating matches.
In a widely circulated video, Mrs. Attah disclosed that the two unnamed officials of the club told referee Yao Selorm Bless who was in charge of 1-1 draw between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko earlier this season to hand red cards to two players of Hearts of Oak, such that the club will lose to allow the sacking of Samuel Boadu.
In the audio, Mrs. Attah noted that her husband informed her of the happenings within the club and further alleged that, her husband was dropped from starting eleven for that match and replaced with substitute goalie Richmond Ayi at the eleventh hour.
This triggered the phobian fraternity to issue a statement on Friday, threatening to seek legal action should Mrs. Attah fail to provide evidence to back her claims.
However, her husband Richard Attah has apologised to the Phobia fraternity for the comments made by his wife.
“I want to take this opportunity to render an unqualified apology on behalf of my wife and my family for comments made when addressing her fellow phobians regarding my non selection during matches for our darling club” Attah posted on Facebook.
“please let’s forgive and let’s go as we forge forward together with a common goal. She never meant to tarnish the image of the club or anyone associated with the club. She has since regretted and promise not to engage in anything that will bring the club into disrepute.
” I would like to apologize to the board chairman for the dent on the image of the club. Apologies to the board members, the management and fans of the club. I say a big sorry to my teammates, like I always say teamwork is the goal.”Trust the process”.
Apologies to the former coach Samuel Boadu
For every comment made about him in the audio. He has always been my friend and an adviser, and I will always hold him in high esteem.
Attah also apologised to the current Hearts of oak coach Slavko Matic, whom his wife accused of dropping him for being overweight.
He insisted that he has no qualms with the club and is currently negotiating a new contract.
“To my current coach, I say sorry. Thanks for believing in me and letting me know that with hard work I will surpass my potential. He has always been an encourager”, Attah posted on Facebook.
” I want to state, that I do not have any problem with my club. I am happy here, it is not true that my contract with my darling club has been terminated, and I have no intention of terminating it. We are even under contract extension talks.
“The love for the club is unflinching and I always appreciate what the club has helped me to achieve. I appreciate the Executive Board Chairman Togbe Afede XIV who happens to be like a father to me. In all, kindly forgive my wife for her comments, she has promised not to repeat that again”.
Richard Attah was part of Ghana’s squad for Afcon 2022 and has not played for Hearts of aoak since joining the Black Stars for the FIFA World Cup qualifier double header against Nigeria in March 2022.
