According to the students, the major reason is to see the construction of speed rumps on the road to curtail pedestrian knockdown.
Reports gathered confirmed that about 25 students were rushed to the hospital upon the opening of fire which included live bullets, tear gas and other explosives which causes harm to the students. Even though, live bullets were seen, it is said that there was no bloody scene.
The incident lasted for more than one hour before police were called to intervene which resulted in the absurd scene. In a statement released by the police service, they have confirmed that their handling of the situation was poor.
Mr. Eric Opoku Mensah who is the spokesperson of the Ministry of Education in an interview with Joy News claim that efforts are made to control the situation.
However, some of the students who were hospitalised have being discharged whilst the rest are being taken good care of. The urban roads department have been tasked to address the issue of speed rumps that the students were demanding. Calm have been brought to the school and academic work may resume on Tuesday.
