It is true that time and season changes, and it is time that we all heap Praises to the visionary Chief Executive Officer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah and his able management for the feat they have achieved as winners of the Ghana Premier League, 2021/22. The Chief Executive Officer was appointed by the board of directors that is spearheaded by Dr. Kwame Kyei, to lead the affairs of the club. Upon arriving in his first season, the club had to play away from the Baba Yara sports stadium, which affected their performance and they placed second in the first season. Afterwards there was a major shake up in the team as the head coach Mariano Barreto was sacked among other senior players. This generated a whole lot of controversy in the media space and the young C.E.O and his management were at loggerheads with some members of the Board.
However, upon the beginning of the 2021/22 season, the C.E.O together with the management brought in a host of young players and blended them with some good senior players from other clubs. They also brought in the former WAFA coach, Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum, to spearhead the technical team and imported two quality strikers from Cameroun. As the season began, many pundits predicted doom for the fabulous lads with the claim that, the team is so young and cannot achieve any silverware.
Fast forward, the team have being able to surprise all their critics and have being crown the champions of the GPL 2021/22, a feat that shows that the C.E.O and his management made the right decisions relating to coaching and recruitment. Therefore we are acknowledging Nana Yaw Amponsah, the Board, management, Technical team, playing body and the supporters for winning the 24th league title for Asante Kotoko.
